In a magnificent 16th-century building, The Red Lion Coaching Inn offers free parking, free Wi-Fi, cooked breakfasts and elegant rooms. With a central location in Ellesmere, the inn is surrounded by Shropshire countryside.
Our individually designed rooms each have Freeview TVs and tea and coffee facilities. Some have a private bathroom and period features.
The en-suite and shared bathroom facilities have been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Some of our en-suite rooms include baths. We have free parking available on site.
We believe that this is the most comfortable night’s stay in Ellesmere. We are currently rated number one in Ellesmere for our value for money accommodation.

Staying here is like staying with Family. Nothing is too much trouble from the minute you check in. Location is beautiful, the mere is a stones throw away and the picturesque church just behind. Rooms ensuite and tasteful modern. Comfortable bed with lots of personal touches. The food, from evening meal to breakfast is delicious

Visit for three consecutive afternoons this week. All totally amazing. Every meal we both had was excellent. The staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble every one was courteous friendly and extremely professional. Wine was very reasonable in today’s climate. All I’m all about is 5 star experience every time. If in Ellesmere this is the place to go.

Went to a wedding over the weekend, knowing that it was going to be a very boozy affair we booked two nights at the Red Lion. We requested an early access to the room so we could get ready for the wedding, staff sorted it for us. Put in the Ellesmere room, a lovely room with an on suit accessed through a very low door, we called it a Hobbit hole. Lovely bath and shower, all spotlessly clean. The bed was really comfortable and everything was quiet until about 8.30am when other guests started moving around. We had a great breakfast both mornings and had an exceptional Sunday roast. We really enjoyed our stay and thought the staff welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend for a stay or for food.
